Feminine Versus MASCULINE

You have heard of "His and hers" bathroom design elements, but how about for kitchens?

Whether we are talking about heavy stone textured hearth hoods, or sleek and light and simple cabinet handles, there are so many ways to balance feminine and masculine characteristics in a kitchen.

Fifty years ago kitchen usage by men was very low. Today, about fifty percent, of the clients that I do a design survey with, include the man using the kitchen on

a regular basis. Really? Yes, men are taking an active interest in not just grilling on the bar-b-q any longer. Many are helping with preparation, cooking, and clean up, and some do most of the cooking in the home now.

However, with this in mind, there is still a need to appeal to the balance of styles mentioned.

Remember larger, more texture, and darker colors are masculine. And most importantly, opposites attract, even in the ideal kitchen!

It is hard to believe but I still have some empty storage space in the kitchen. Whenever someone sees the kitchen for the first time, they have the same reaction, "Wow."
